As the school year draws to a close, we couldn’t be prouder of Class 3 and the incredible journey they’ve been on. From the classroom to the football pitch, from rowing down the Mersey to scaling rock-climbing walls, this year has been packed with challenge, achievement, and unforgettable experiences. Let’s look back at some of the highlights from this action-packed year.
Academic Adventures: Learning That Made Waves
In the classroom, Class 3 have tackled some big learning goals with energy and determination:
- In Maths, they’ve cracked fractions, plotted graphs, and solved equations—laying strong foundations for their future studies.
- In English, they’ve explored spooky Gothic fiction, dived into Shakespeare’s Macbeth, and improved their creative writing and comprehension.
- In Science, they investigated light, sound, and water waves, explored plant and animal reproduction, and asked big questions about the world around them.
- In Art, they unleashed their creativity with Pop Art inspired by Andy Warhol and explored the textures and forms of furniture design.
- In DT, they built mechanical toys using cams, followers, and linkages, showing how gears and levers can change direction and movement.
- In Humanities, they delved into crime and consequences, making links to modern-day issues and their impact on inner-city communities.
- In Computing, they navigated the digital world with confidence, covering online safety and cybersecurity, explored pre-production planning in the media industry, and built their own 3D creations in SketchUp, designing everything from furniture to futuristic buildings.
Preparing for the Future: GCSE Choices and New Horizons
One of the biggest milestones this year was preparing for the transition to Key Stage 4. The boys have spent time carefully selecting their GCSE options, showing maturity and thoughtfulness about their futures. This marks the start of an exciting new chapter as they step confidently into Year 10.
Beyond the Classroom: Sport, Adventure, and Real-World Learning
Class 3 haven’t just been busy in lessons – they’ve been representing the school and making memories along the way:
- Football Glory: The boys proudly represented Clifford Holroyde in local football tournaments, showing teamwork, skill, and sportsmanship every step of the way.
- Rowing and Swimming: Whether rowing on the River Mersey or making a splash in the swimming pool, Class 3 has risen to every physical challenge.
- Rock Climbing: Reaching new heights, our boys showed grit and determination as they tackled rock climbing walls with courage and teamwork.
- Knife Crime Play: A powerful moment this year was attending a play about knife crime. This thought-provoking experience encouraged deep discussions about making safe choices and supporting our communities.
Rewarding Hard Work: Well-Earned Fun
After all their hard work, the boys enjoyed some well-deserved reward trips, including bowling, Laser Quest, and the occasional celebratory McDonald’s and pizza party. These fun-filled outings gave everyone the chance to unwind, laugh, and celebrate their achievements together.
Looking Ahead
As Class 3 gets ready to move into Year 10, we are excited to see how they continue to grow both in and out of the classroom. With GCSE courses ahead and new challenges to conquer, we know they’ll take everything they’ve learned this year and use it to achieve even greater things.

Happy New Year to all! Class 3 has returned from their festive break with renewed energy and excitement, diving straight into an action-packed term filled with thrilling subjects and extracurricular fun. Here’s a peek at what they’ve been up to so far:
Extra-Curricular Adventures: Splashing, Kicking, and Scoring Big!
Class 3 has been making waves—literally and figuratively—with their extracurricular activities. From swimming lessons that keep them afloat to rowing sessions on the River Mersey, teamwork and resilience have been the name of the game. Football has also been in full swing, with the boys kicking their way toward stronger skills and great camaraderie.
Rewarding Hard Work: Bowling, Laser Beams, and Burgers!
Class 3 has been celebrating their achievements with some well-deserved reward trips! Highlights include strikes at the bowling alley, high-energy laser battles at Laser Quest, and a delicious pit stop at McDonald’s to refuel after all the fun.
Maths: Fraction Frenzy
In Maths, the boys have been slicing their way through the world of fractions! From adding and subtracting to multiplying and dividing, they’ve been sharpening their problem-solving skills and making sure their numerators and denominators add up to success.
English: Witches, Daggers, and Tragedy with Macbeth
Double, double, toil and trouble—Class 3 has been diving into the dark and dramatic world of Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Exploring themes of ambition, power, and fate, they’ve been honing their analysis and creativity, with some amazing discussions and writing inspired by the tragic tale.
Design and Technology: Marvelous Mechanical Toys
In DT, our budding engineers have been hard at work designing mechanical toys, learning about cams, followers, linkages, and levers. They’ve explored how these mechanisms can change directions of motion in fascinating ways, gearing up for some incredible hands-on creations!
Art: Popping Into the World of Pop Art
