Look at the gym floor!

With just a few days before pupils return on Tuesday 3rd September, site team and site workers have been busy finishing summer works. Look at the gym floor!!! It looks amazing – as does the newly refurbished pool table in the rewards room. Sports markings for football, badminton and basketball are due to be painted before the end of the week – and then we look forward to welcoming back on site PE from next week.

We hope all pupils had a great summer break and are looking forward to an amazing Autumn term with some amazing new facilities.

Summer works continued…..

The gym floor is getting higher and higher – with only one more layer to go! Then sports line will be painted on ready for on site PE from September. Welcome back on site PE! Computers are popping up everywhere! Thanks to ‘Dreams Come True’ and our computer technician guys from MGL – pupils will be returning to school in September with more and more desktop & laptop technology to use in lessons. It will be great to see these computers put to use in lessons.

Site Managers ‘Peachy’ and Jamie have been painting and decorating preparing classes for learning in just a few days time.

Pool table is due to be repaired next week – so the reward room will be back and fully functioning!

It really has been a busy Summer!

“Room for anymore? Almost full to the brim!”

Gallons and gallons of concrete have been poured into our gym floor along with insulation, reinforced metal sheets and gallons more concrete on top!

Workers will return the first week in August to squirt the final / top layer of concrete before another company will arrive to provide the finishing touches and vinyl sports hall surface.

Fingers crossed – everything is still on target for us to use our new gym floor from Tues 3rd Sept.

“Hotting up at Clifford!”

Workers have wasted no time ripping out the old failing boilers and replacing them with a brand new state of the art boiler system.

Our new system is almost complete, ready for ‘touch of a button’ operating to provide a warm school building next winter.

“Cooking up a treat”

The Food tech room has been upgraded with 5 brand new cookers ready for September! We look forward to delicious treats being cooked up on these new appliances when then pupils return in Autumn.

“And they’re off!”

Works have started on replacing the boilers and concrete has already been poured into our gym! There is no stopping the workers – As soon as pupils finished on Friday 19th,  workers moved in on Saturday 20th July to start removing joists and dismantling old boilers. Fingers crossed for a smooth summer of works and hopefully all the work will be finished in time for Tues 3rd September.

Work has finally begun!

April 24 – Work has begun on our gymnasium floor. The water ingress and subsequent damage to the sub floor timbers and gym floor is extensive as you can see from the photos!

Whilst this is good news that work has started, it will obviously impact on our daily usage during the Summer Term 24. The “rip out”, repairs and replacement process is likely to take 3 months and will therefore mean that pupils are unable to use the gym for sensory circuits, lessons, games, de-escalation, PE, break time or lunchtime.

We know that the boys will be disappointed in the short term – but we hope that by September, we will have a “non-damaged”, flat, safe, new gym floor to be able to enjoy, run and learn on!

Fingers crossed for a quick resolution and fast repairs / replacement. I will keep you posted with any developments.
